Thanks for the concern! However, this exchange covers romantic and/or sexual relationships between multiple people, of which non-consensual variants are allowed.

I'm fine with it being generalized to "queerplatonic relationships". "Diamoric" is another term for "queerplatonic" that some people use if they're not comfortable with terms containing "queer". No gender is specified either way.

Google says diamoric refers to relationships involving non-binary people, which I think is what mod means by specifying gender.

I've heard of quasiplatonic being used instead, if that's maybe what you were going for?

—aheh, whoops, got my neonyms mixed up. Thanks for the correx. I was thinking of someone I know who uses both diamoric and alterous, and swapped meanings for them in my head. "Alterous" is the alternative term for "queerplatonic" that I had in mind. I need to sleep more.

Actually, alterous and queerplatonic are different kinds of relationships. After all, you can be aplatonic (not interested in QP relationships) and alloalterous.

"Platonic Relationships" is an approved freeform tag. Can I ask why? I was under the impression this was a ship exchange, not a ships-and-gen one.

Maybe if mod doesn't want to make a clear cut decision yet about all those gen tags (in an exchange where gen shouldn't be allowed/is off topic material) they could make a poll and year what the most of participant want.

Thanks for the concern! I'd interpreted it to mean a focus on the interactions of two+ people involved in a poly relationship but not each other (i.e. those in sedoretus or Vs), but given the feedback I'll ask the nominator to clarify if it can be better served using a less ambiguous tag.

Hey, I nominated it! I thought since QP relationships were allowed, platonic poly would be fine too? Or is it redundant to have both since Queerplatonic is just a fancy way of saying Platonic?

Thank you! As this exchange is intended to focus on romantic and/or sexual poly relationships, straight platonic dynamics are not covered; it was my understanding that queerplatonic relationships crossed the line into ambiguously romantic, but I'll ask the nominator to check they meant something still within the exchange's focus.

Queerplatonic is still platonic, which is the opposite of romantic. It isn't ambiguous or romantic at all.

Sedoretu including a platonic relationship among the shippy ones is defined by the sedoretu, no platonic tag needed. Similarly for V relationships - it's already defined in the setup.

A platonic tag or a queerplatonic tag is allowing for total gen - that's not poly, and those tags aren't useful for this exchange. And queerplatonic is very much the new smarm, and has a lot of homophobia (anti-gay-sex) built in.

Doki Doki Literature Club! - Protagonist?

I have a question about the nomination of Yuri/Monika/Protagonist (DDLC). Do they mean the in game protagonist who is a childhood friend of Sayori and exists in universe, has a personality and a history dictated by the game or do they mean the person playing the video game who Monika is in love with?

This has now been answered - the nominator meant the in-game protagonist, who is 'Protagonist' in the current naming system on AO3. I hope this helps!

What's with all the prompt variations on an already existing relationship configuration tag? Isn't that what the prompts are for?

This would make more sense to me as just the ménage à trois. There's three or more variations on couple starts a relationship with a third, and while there's a degree of difference in some of them, there are several that the only difference is the prompt/trope not the relationship configuration.

It's just not what I was expecting and am I supposed to be incorporating prompts and tropes into my tags or just stick to relationship types?

Prompts are optional, though, and some people may want to make sure in advance that they and their recip/author see the relationship the same way. Sounds sensible to me, even if it might make matching harder.

I'll be doing some minor cleanup of tags after nominations if they cover very similar things. The tags can also serve as prompts themselves, in the vein of other exchanges with freeform matching (i.e. Unusual Bearings, SmutSwap).
